Kaufman County, TX (August 30, 2026) – A woman was killed, and an 8-month-old child suffered serious injuries on Saturday morning, August 29, after a two-vehicle crash on US 80 near the FM 460 exit lane in Kaufman County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 4:25 a.m. An Infiniti QX3 was traveling east on US 80 in the exit lane when it made an unsafe left lane change and struck a Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the right lane.
The impact caused the Silverado to hit a concrete barrier and overturn, coming to rest on its roof. The Infiniti continued east before also striking a concrete barrier. The Silverado driver was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The 8-month-old was also transported to a hospital with suspected serious injuries. The Infiniti driver and two passengers were not injured, according to DPS.
The investigation remains ongoing.
