What Should You Do After a Multi-Vehicle Truck Crash in Rockwall, TX?
After a multi-vehicle crash involving an truck, immediate medical needs should take priority. Once it is safe to do so, those involved can begin preserving information about the vehicles, roadway, and circumstances surrounding the crash.
Photographs can help capture details that may change once vehicles are moved or repairs begin. Images of vehicle damage, the barrier, roadway markings, traffic signs, and the surrounding roadway can provide useful documentation.
Because several vehicles may be connected to the same crash, exchanging information can become more complicated. Drivers should obtain available contact and insurance information and note the identifying details of the other vehicles involved when circumstances permit.
Witnesses may also have information that helps explain how the sequence unfolded. Contact information for people who saw the crash can be preserved, while available surveillance or traffic-camera footage may provide another source of evidence.
Medical records should be kept from the beginning of treatment. Emergency visits, hospital records, diagnostic testing, medications, and follow-up appointments can document injuries and the expenses associated with them.
At the same time, financial losses should be tracked as they arise. Missed work, reduced income, vehicle repairs, towing, rental transportation, and other out-of-pocket expenses may become relevant when evaluating the effects of a serious crash.
A commercial truck can also generate additional records that may be relevant to a claim. Depending on the circumstances, information concerning the truck, driver, maintenance, or company involved may help establish what occurred before the crash.
A truck accident lawyer can review the available records and explain what legal options may apply after a multi-vehicle crash. An attorney may also help organize evidence and address questions involving multiple drivers, insurance policies, and potential claims.
