Mesquite, TX (September 6, 2026) – A fatal crash involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer was reported early Friday morning, September 4, on a transition ramp from westbound I-30 to northbound I-635. The crash occurred around 3:16 a.m. in the 1700 block of Interstate 30.
The Chevrolet Equinox and a Freightliner towing a 53-foot trailer collided on the ramp. The SUV driver was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured and remained at the scene until medical personnel arrived. He was later taken into custody and charged with one count of manslaughter.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mesquite Police Department Traffic Unit.
